Meet Dr. Nicholas Ancona

Dr. Nicholas Ancona completed his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, where he received two Bachelor of Science Degrees in biochemistry and biology. He conducted research in the field of organic and inorganic chemistry and was published in the Journal of Inorganic Chemistry. Dr. Ancona earned many academic accolades and worked/volunteered in various medical and dental settings. It was at this time he developed a tremendous interest in the field of orthodontics.
Dr. Ancona was accepted to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. During that time, he continued to do research, now geared toward orthodontics. He investigated the genetic relationship to dental malocclusions and was published in the International Orthodontics Journal. Dr. Ancona was admitted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and graduated at the top of his class. He earned various academic accolades, including the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Award for Exceptional Interest in the Oro-Facial Complex.
Dr. Ancona remained at the University of Detroit Mercy to complete his Orthodontic Residency program. He served as Class President and Chief Resident. His research continued as he turned his focus to the (TMJ) temporomandibular joint. He was selected to present his research at the AAO annual conference and was awarded the William R. Proffitt Resident Scholarship Award.
As an Orthodontist, Dr. Ancona loves the science and engineering of aligning teeth and correcting "bad bites" (malocclusions). As a parent, Dr. Ancona is passionate about helping children transform their smiles to one of confidence and pride benefiting them for a lifetime. Dr. Ancona welcomes the challenges of adult orthodontics and assisting those who suffer from TMJ, which can be debilitating.
